New live-action series on Fuji TV marks the 3rd adaptation of manga by Shungicu Uchida
Minami-kun no Koibito, a 1986 manga by Shungicu Uchida, is being adapted into a live-action television film for Fuji TV entitled Minami-kun no Koibito: My Little Lover. The story involves a pair of young lovers named Susumu Minami and Chiyomi Horikiri whose relationship is suddenly complicated when Chiyomi finds herself shrunk to the size of a doll.
The new TV series stars Taishi Nakagawa as Susumu Minami and Maika Yamamoto as Chiyomi Horikiri, with direction by Kazuya Konaka. This is the 3rd time Minami-kun no Koibito has been adapted into a Japanese television series; earlier adaptations aired on TV Asahi in 1994 and 2004, respectively. The new series premieres in November on Fuji TV.
The Minami-kun no Koibito manga originally ran in Seirindo's Garo magazine from 1986 to 1987. Minami-kun no Koibito has received a French language release in France under the title La petite amie de Minami, but the manga has not presently been officially translated and released in the English language.
