Editor Discusses Beginning and End of "Attack on Titan"

And happy birthday to editor Kawakubo Shintaro, who shares day with Hanji Zoe!

Happy birthday to Kodansha's Attack on Titan editor Kawakubo Shintaro. Sharing a birthday with the series Hansi Zoe, Editor-san turns 33 today. (Author Hajime Isayama turned 29 on August 29th). Recently, he gave an interview with Antenna, in which he reiterate that the series end is planned and in sight. Specifically, there are about three years worth of manga chapters left. Since the manga started in 2009 and it has been 6 years, the comment is consistent with Isayama’s recent claim that the story is approximately “60% finished.”

Kawakubo also commented about the beginnings of the series. The original suggestion was for Isayama to draw something “easy for the majority of the public to understand and caters to them.” However Isayama responded with “But who represents this ‘majority?’” as he preferred to create something with immense impact, even if understood by few. They continued to argue back-and-forth about this for an entire year.

And happy birthday to HZ!
