"Kamen Rider" Returns to Its Roots for 45th Anniversary Film

"Kamen Rider #1" film hits Japanese theaters on March 26, 2016

Toei has announced the upcoming release of Kamen Rider #1, a 2016 film that celebrates the 45th anniversary of Kamen Rider, a masked superhero character created by manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori. The first entry in the long-running Kamen Rider series of live-action tokusatsu television shows debuted in April of 1971.

Details for the new film are currently scarce, although the key visual above depicts an updated version of the original Takeshi Hongo / Kamen Rider 1 character design.

Kamen Rider #1 will be released in Japanese theaters on March 26, 2016. The film is part of Toei's "Superhero Year" plans, which also includes a project celebrating the 40th entry in the Super Sentai series with Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger.
