"Death Note 2016" Ryuzaki Featured on "Screen International" Cover

With a tagline "The new saga begins."

The 66th Berlin International Film Festival was held from February 11 to 21, and Ryuzaki portrayed by Sousuke Ikematsu from the upcoming sequel film Death Note 2016 was featured on the cover of British film magazine Screen International's special issue for the festival. The 10,000-limited issue with the never-seen-before photo was distributed on the first day of the event, along with screening of a special preview for the film.

The new character is described as the righteous successor of L, who is an internationally known private detective born from L's gene that was left before he died. He is wearing a hyottoko mask that L also wore in the previous films released in 2006.

The film has already cast Masahiro Higashide as Tsukuru Mishima (investigator at the Death Note

Countermeasures Headquarters Special Unit), Masaki Suda as Yuuki Shien (cyber-terrorist), and

ex-AKB48 member Rina Kawaei as Sakura Aoi (one of the Death Note owners). The film will open

in Japan this fall, distributed by Warner Brothers Japan.
