Main staff announced for TV anime based on shōjo manga by Akira Hiyoshimaru
Crunchyroll previously reported about how Hatsukoi Monster, a shōjo manga by Akira Hiyoshimaru about a high school girl who becomes infatuated with a boy only to discover he's actually a 5th grader who looks mature for his age, is being adapted into a TV anime series. Now new information is available: Hatsukoi Monster will debut on Japanese television in July of 2016.
The official website also announced the main staff for the series, including:
- Original work: Akira Hiyoshimaru (serialized in Kodansha's Aria shōjo manga anthology magazine)
- Director: Takayuki Inagaki
- Character design: Mariko Oka
- Animation production: Studio Deen
Yen Press releases an English language version of the manga under the title First Love Monster. They described the story as follows:
"When you find out who I really am...if you can still say you like me, then I'll be your boyfriend.
When fifteen-year-old Kaho Nikaidou leaves her sheltered home to start life anew in Tokyo, the last thing she expects is to nearly get hit by a truck! Saved in the nick of time by a handsome stranger, Kaho falls head over heels for him and boldly confesses her feelings. The handsome object of Kaho's affection agrees to go out with her, but her newfound bliss is short lived when it turns out that her new boyfriend...is a fifth grader?!"
