"Battery" Novels to Be Adapted into Anime on noitaminA Block

Series debuts on Fuji TV this July

The 2016 noitaminA lineup continues to expand, with a TV anime slated to adapt Atsuko Asano's Battery novels. The baseball series will premiere this July, with House of Five Leaves director Tomomi Mochizuki directing and handling scripts, while Hideoki Kusama (animation director on Persona 3 the Movie #1) serves as chief animation director and works on character designs based on Takako Shimura's originals.

Here's the official website and a quick promo teaser:

Battery was previously adapted into a drama that aired on NHK in 2008. Here's the synopsis from Drama wiki:

A story about a teenage pitcher and catcher who develop a firm friendship through their battery. Harada Takumi, an aloof junior high school boy who has a great arm, meets Nagakura Go, who can catch Takumi's fastball. Together, they build up a trusting relationship among the teammates.

Kouki Uchiyama, who also played ball as Takahiro Oomae in Ace of the Diamond (and a different kind of ball as Kei Tsukishima in Haikyu!!), and Tasuka Hatanaka (Ushio in Ushio & Tora) play the leads.
