Shidou Nakamura Reprises His Role as Ryuk in "Death Note 2016"

Sequel film will be released in Japan on October 29

Following the previously-announced Erika Toda as Misa Amane, it is also confirmed that 43-year-old Japanese kabuki and film actor Shidou Nakamura reprises his role as Ryuk, the original shinigami dropped the first Death Note in the human world, in the upcoming live-action film Death Note 2016.

 

He played the character in the first two live-action films released in 2006 and its spin-off L change the WorLd in 2008. He also voiced the anime version of Ryuk in the 2006 TV anime. In the new film, Ryuk is drawn based on facial captures provided by Nakamura himself. 

 

 

 

 

Death Note 2016 is set 10 years after the first two live-action films, focusing on a three-way battle among

Masahiro Higashide as Tsukuru Mishima (investigator at the Death Note Countermeasures Headquarters Special

Unit), Sousuke Ikematsu as Ryuzaki (L's righteous successor), Masaki Suda as Yuuki Shien (cyber-terrorist).

It will open in Japan on October 29, 2016.
