Fans can visit the official "Sadako vs. Kayako" home page to cast their ballot for their favorite spectral lady
Upcoming horror movie Sadako vs. Kayako, a monster mash-up that pits the antagonists of the Ju-on / The Grudge and Ringu / The Ring films against one another, is running a "spooky general election" promotional campaign that encourages fans to vote for their favorite villain.
The campaign includes videos where Sadako and Kayako (with the aid of interpreters) express their political platforms and call upon the audience for their support:
In her video, Sadako shares her dreams of making Japan great again (by cursing it) and bemoans the lack of passion among young voters, who are too modest to level deadly curses in the present day. Sadako also points out that she has experience cursing both in Japan and abroad, whereas her opponent, Kayako, never leaves the house.
Kayako laments the breakdown of traditional family values, noting that strong family ties can help people get by even during tough economic conditions. Kayako also pokes fun at her opponent, Sadako, for being old fashioned, implying that young people aren't even familiar with the VHS format anymore.
Sadako vs. Kayako is directed by Kōji Shiraishi. The film hits Japanese movie theaters on June 18, 2016. Fans who want to cast their votes in the spooky general election can do so by visiting the official Sadako vs. Kayako Japanese home page here.
