Performance runs in Tokyo and Osaka this September
Osamu Akimoto's long-running Kochira Katsushika-ku Kamearikouen-mae Hatshutsujo comedy manga, more succinctly known as KochiKame, is getting another stage play in Japan this September. The performance has Lasar Ishii both reprising his role in the lead as Kankichi Ryotsu and pulling off directing and writing duties, and the play's official website busted out an explosive main visual to get everyone appropriately hyped.
The new KochiKame play is set to run from September 9-19 at AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo, followed by performances from September 23-25 at Sankei Hall Breeze in Osaka. More cast information will be revealed in future issues of Weekly Shonen Jump, which has been KochiKame's home since 1976.
If you want an idea of the exact amount of comics that can be produced over 40 weekly years, volume 198 was released in March.
