Rila Fukushima Joins Live-Action "Ghost In The Shell"

Sci-fi adaptation planned for March 31st, 2017

Hollywood Reporter's comics/geek media focused Heat Vision has learned that the live-action Ghost in the Shell has added Tokyo-born actress Rila Fukushima (The Wolverine's Kukio, Arrow's Katana).  Her role is not specified.


Leads include Scarlett Johansson in the lead alongside Pilou Asbæk's Batou, oppisite Boardwalk Empire's Michael Pitt in talks to play the movie's Laughing Man. Confirmed cast members include Scarlett Johansson in the lead alongside Pilou Asbækas Batou. 

Others include Beat Takeshi Kitano (Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, Battle Royaleseries) as Daisuke Aramaki, Michael Pitt (Hannibal, Boardwalk Empire) as Kuze and Pilou Asbæk (Ben-Hur, Lucy) as Batou are Juliette Binoche (The English Patient, Chocolat) as Dr. Ouelet,  and Kaori Momoi (Memoirs Of A Geisha, Hong Kong Confidential), while others of Section 9 are played by Chin Han (Independence Day: Resurgence), Danusia Sama

Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman) directs, with the adaptation set to premiere in theaters on March 31, 2017. l (Tyrant), Lasarus Ratuere (Terra Nova), Yutaka Izumihara (Unbroken) and Tuwanda Manyimo (The Rover).
