Supernatural manga by Karakara-Kemuri has also been adapted into a 2014 TV anime
Laughing Under the Clouds, a supernatural shōjo manga by Karakara-Kemuri, is being adapted into a live-action film. Details of the production such as the staff, the cast, and the film's release have not yet been released.
The original Laughing Under the Clouds manga was serialized in Mag Garden's Monthly Comic Avarus anthology magazine from 2011 - 2014. The series inspired both a sequel (Laughing Under the Clouds Gaiden) and a spin-off (Laughing in Limbo).
Laughing Under the Clouds was also adapted into a TV anime in 2014 with direction by Hiroshi Haraguchi and animation by Dogakobo. The TV anime is licensed and distributed in North America by Funimation, who describe the series as follows:
"When swords were outlawed in the eleventh year of the Meiji era, the mighty samurai population began to dwindle. Those who rejected the ban on blades rebelled, causing violent unrest to erupt throughout the countryside. To combat the rise in criminal activity, an inescapable lake prison was constructed. Three young men, born of the Kumo line, were given the duty of delivering criminals to their place of confinement – but could there be more to their mission than meets the eye?"
