"Pokémon" Movie Eyes "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Gravity Falls" Writers

Entertainment industry journal Variety has reported that Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch are in negotiations to write the movie based on "Detective Pikachu"

Entertainment industry journal Variety has reported that Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch are in negotiations to write the Legendary's live-action Pokémon movie, to be based on the upcoming game Detective Pikachu. 

 

Variety notes Perlman has a background in Marvel’s writers’ room, with work on Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy movies, as well as their upcoming Captain Marvel, with Inside Out's Meg LeFauve.


Hirsch created Disney’s cult favorite Gravity Falls.


Universal Pictures will continue their role with Legendary film, distributing this one outside Japan. The Pokemon Company’s long-time movie collaborator, Toho, will handle distribution of the film franchise in Japan. They handled a similar role for Legendary's Godzilla movie.
