"Granblue Fantasy The Animation" TV Anime Debuts in January

Final Fantasy's Nobuo Uematsu provides music, BUMP OF CHICKEN performs theme

Cygames held a Cygames Next 2016 event in Tokyo this weekend, celebrating the occasion with a handful of announcements. Among those were some reveals centered on smartphone game Granblue Fantasy, which has a TV anime adaptation in the works. The first promo is now online, and Granblue Fantasy The Animation is officially set for a January 2017 premiere.

Cast for the anime includes Yuki Ono as Gran, Nao Tōyama as Lulia, Rie Kugimiya as Bii, Miyuki Sawashiro as Catalina, and Hisako Kanemoto as Jeeta. 


The A-1 Pictures production is being directed by Yuuki Itoh (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha ViVid), with Toshifumi Akai (Magi, Kokoro Connect) on character designs and renowned Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu carrying over his music work from the game. The theme song will be performed by BUMP OF CHICKEN.
