"Space Battleship Yamato 2202" Teaser Published With Plans For Sci-Fi Sequel

First part opens for limited theatrical run in February, 2017

The promise of September news for Space Battleship Yamato 2202: Ai no Senshi-tachi ("Soldiers of Love") has some through. Along with the teaser, plans were revealed, with the first of a seven-part follow-up to the 2012 remake of Space Battleship Yamato 219 opening for a 2-week limited run in 15 theaters starting February 25, 2017. Home video releases of humanity's contest with the Comet Empire follow in March.

In an interview for June's issue 14 of Space Battleship Yamato fan magazine Ship's Log, Executive Producer Shoji Nishizaki and Producer Hirotaka Furukawa mentioned plans to release the anime internationally, along with 2199, four of six planned volumes of which were released before the shop was closed on a StarBlazers.com distribution plan.
