"High School Fleet" Sets Sail With New OAV in 2017

New animation will continue the adventures of the Blue Mermaids after the events of the 2016 TV series

Fans of moe anime girls and naval adventures on the high seas will be pleased to know that a new OAV for High School Fleet has been announced for release in 2017.

Details about the production (such as the cast, the crew, and the release date) are currently scarce, but it has been announced that the new OAV will depict a story that takes place after the events of the 2016 TV High School Fleet series.

The original High School Fleet manga by Kanari Abe is known as Haifuri in Japan. The series is serialized in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive seinen manga magazine. The 2016 High School Fleet TV anime adaptation is directed by Yuu Nobuta and features animation by Production IMS. Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:

"Living by the sea, protecting the sea, and journeying across the sea…They’re the BLUE MERMAIDS! Because of a shift in tectonic plates around 100 years ago, Japan lost much of its area to submergence. To preserve Japan’s territories, Coastal Cities sprung up, one after the other. Eventually, they became Marine Cities, and along with the expansion of sea-lanes to connect them, the need arose for a sizable staff to protect the seas. At the same time, maritime jobs were becoming more popular among women. Hence, the BLUE MERMAIDS had become every female student’s dream job."
