Tokyo and Kyoto Celebrate Godzilla's Birthday With Film Festival

"Godzilla Birthday Festival 2016" features film screenings and live-talk events at 2 venues

November 3rd marks the anniversary of the original 1954 Godzilla film (known as Gojira in Japan), and two venues in Tokyo and Kyoto are gearing up to celebrate with an all-night film festival that includes screenings of key Godzilla movies and guest talks with some of the cast and crew members that bring the films to life.

 

 

The "Godzilla Birthday Festival 2016" is the 6th such film festival since the annual event was introduced in 2010. The festival is being held simultaneously at the Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas theater in Tokyo and the Kyoto Minami Kaikan theater in Kyoto on November 02, 2016, beginning at 8PM JST.

 

 

The Tokyo venue includes screenings of Shin Gojira (2016), Godzilla 2000 (1999), and The Return of Godzilla (1984), and will feature actors Sei Hirazumi and Takehiro Murata as guests.

 

The Kyoto venue includes screenings of Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack (2001), Son of Godzilla (1967), and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II (1993), and will feature actor Hiroyuki Watanabe and screenwriter Wataru Mimura as guests.
