Leiji Matsumoto's "Gun Frontier" Manga Returns in Reboot

Yuzuru Shimazaki handles updated take on 70s manga

Galaxy Express 999 creator Leiji Matsumoto originally put Captain Harlock in a wild west spinoff with 999 star Tochiro when Gun Frontier launched back in 1972, and now the manga has made a comeback. A reboot manga by Yuzuru Shimazaki launched in the December issue of Monthly Champion RED magazine, returning once more to the wasteland with six-shooter and samurai sword in tow.

In the meantime, English fans of Matsumoto can look forward to Discotek Media's December 20 DVD release of the 2002 Gun Frontier anime adaptation.
