Campaign is more than fully funded with 5 days remaining
Animator Sae Okamoto launched a Kickstarter campaign for her original anime project MECHA-UDE just about a month ago, and it's well over its initial $25,000 goal. With five days to go, the crowdfunding effort is fast approaching 200% of that number at nearly $50,000, so it's a great time to check out a long version of the teaser promo.
Other recent updates include a cheering message from animator Thomas Romain (world designer on Macross Delta, mechanical designer on Space Dandy), who is currently working as supervising director and mechanical designer on the similarly crowdfunded Cannon Busters.
Here's what he had to say about MECHA-UDE:
Currently, there are few young animators who try to create the original animation project in Japan. When I first see MECHA-UDE, I was surprised that is the project of an animator of a young woman. I want you to support for these projects. By the realization of such a project, I think that the total animation industry will be inspired and grow. The same generation of creators as Okamoto bear the future of Japanese animation.
