New Art of Haruhi, Yuki, and Mikuru is Getting Negative Reviews from Japanese Fans
As we reported earlier this month, a new mega Blu-ray box set featuring pretty much all the Haruhi there is to Haruhi will be coming out this December. Kadokawa's "Suzumiya Haruhi no Taisei -Super Blu-ray Box- First Production Limited Edition" will include both TV anime series, the Disappearance movie, both spinoff series, and footage from the live "Suzumiya Haruhi no Gokuon" event. All told, the eleven-disc set will clock in at 27 hours of content.
It was also mentioned that KyoAni would be doing new interior jacket art for the set, which has just been revealed.
While the art is brand new and features the three beauties of the SOS Brigade, many fans aren't happy with the way the characters are drawn, stating that the art style appears to have changed to the point that they don't look like themselves. To some, the babyfaced Mikuru looks too young. Others say the art looks to be straight out of Hibike! Euphonium.
What do you think? Is it what you were hoping for, or is the art style shift a deal-breaker?
Either way, the Super Blu-Ray Box goes on sale December 16th in Japan, at a price of 29,160 yen.
