New "PreCure" Team-Up Movie Leaves the "All Stars" Line

"PreCure Dream Stars" Promises a Brand-New Story, Teases a New Character

For several years now, the PreCure All Stars line has teamed up all previous PreCure teams in an ever-growing magical girl army. Even as of four years ago, it had become so packed that earlier teams were relegated to background characters just to keep things simple.

For 2017, the franchisse seems to be going a different route entirely: PreCure Dream Stars doesn't appear to feature the dozens of magical girls the franchise has built up over the years, but rather only the most recent two teams... and a mysterious new girl.

Only the Go! Princess PreCure and Maho Tsukai PreCure teams are shown in the official art and trailer, as well as what appears to be a new sakura-themed pink Cure. Will she be coming to the 2017 series? Or is she, like Cure Echo, a film-exclusive character?

We'll find out on March 18, 2017, when PreCure Dream Stars hits Japanese theatres.
