Fans voted for the kimono they wanted, and now Tokyo Otaku Mode has 100 to sell.
Last month, we told you about Tokyo Otaku Mode's plans for a full-color, all-over printed kimono, the design for which would be chosen from six possible designs by a fan vote. Well, the fans have spoken, and the new kimono is being made!
The graphics have been digitally printed onto the fabric to preserve the brightness of the colors.
Featuring art from Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo, the kimono measures 165 cm x 136 cm when laid flat. While the kimono can obviously be worn, it has been designed so that it can serve as a display piece, too.
Only 100 of these kimono will be sold, with the preorder period starting today and running until December 29. The kimono alone costs $1,944, the kimono with display rack costs $2,138, and the kimono with display rack and matching obi costs $3,145. Sales are open to customers worldwide, and orders are expected to ship starting at the end of 2017.
