"IT Anthropomorphic Project" Web Anime Explores Life in the Database

"Gijinka de Manabo!" features direction and storyboards by Tetsuaki Watanabe

The "IT Anthropomorphic Project" - an effort by educational book publisher Shoeisha to teach the principals of information technology with the help of cute, personified computer protocols - has released a short work of animation featuring three of its moe anime characters.

Gijinka de Manabo! ("Let's Learn with Anthropomorphism!") features supervision and storyboards by Tetsuaki Watanabe as well as the voice talents of Ai Kakuma as UDP, Satomi Arai as IP, and Ayane Sakura as Ether.

An experimental anime that translates basic IT concepts into a science fiction setting, the short film clocks in at just under 4 minutes in length, and it is being used by Yuushi Okajima, an associate professor at the School of Policy Studies at Chuo University, to gauge the impact of personification on the study of information technology.
