The Creepy Grin Returns in "Warau Salesman NEW" TV Anime

TV anime adaptation based on Fujiko Fujio's psychological horror manga debuts in Spring season of 2017

Fujiko Fujio's psychological horror manga Warau Salesman ("The Laughing Salesman") is returning to Japanese TV with a brand new adaptation entitled Warau Salesman NEW in the Spring season of 2017.

The new animation is directed by Hirofumi Ogura (The Knight in the Area, Comical Psychosomatic Medicine) and features Tesshō Genda as the voice of Moguro Fukuzo, the titular laughing salesman.

In Warau Salesman, people who suffer from the stresses of modern life encounter the mysterious Moguro Fukuzo, a salesman who promises them relief from their anxieties. Inevitably, Moguro's clients receive much more than they bargained for...

The original Warau Salesman manga began as a one-shot story in Shogakukan's Big Comic manga in 1968. The manga was later serialized in Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha's Comic Sunday from 1969 - 1971. A TV anime adaptation with direction by Yoshitomo Yonetani and animation by Shin-Ei Animation aired on the Tokyo Broadcasting System from 1989 - 1992. A live-action TV drama also aired on TV Asahi in 1999.

Warau Salesman NEW will kick off its Japanese broadcast in the Spring season of 2017 on Tokyo MX, Yomiuri TV, BS11, and Animax.
