Visitors to Akihabara have spotted ads announcing producer AIC's plans to go to crowdfunding platform Campfire with new anime projects based on the Tenchi Muyo magic girl spin-off Pretty Sammy and '80s sci-fi OVA series Megazone 23.
In 2013, Luxent released a "Megazone 23 Blu-ray Archive BOX -30th ANNIVERSARY EDITION-." The 26,800 yen (about 220 US dollars) four-disc set contains the HD-remastered three Megazone 23 OVA series released in Japan from 1985 to 1989. The first chapter released in April 1985 was one of the earliest and most successful Japanese OVAs, reportedly selling 26,000 VHS tapes at the time.
Magical Girl Pretty Sammy got a 3-episode OVA between 1995 and 1997, an S 26-episode TV series in 1996, and an alternate style/universe Club 26-episode TV series in 2006.
