"Sword Art Online The Movie" Has Earned 2.3 Billion Yen in Domestic Market in 7 Weeks

8th week moviegoers will receive an official "spoiler" book from this Saturday

After crossing the two billion yen mark two weeks ago, it is confirmed today that the total domestic gross of Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale has reached 2.3 billion yen selling 1.6 million tickets in seven weeks since its release on February 18. The all-new film based on Reki Kawahara's sci-fi action light novel series ranked in the weekend top 10 for five consecutive weeks, and has already surpassed the total box office gross of K-ON! The Movie (1.9 billion yen/2011) and Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Rebellion (2.08 billion yen/2013).

 

Moviegoers in the next eighth week (April 8-14) will receive an official "spoiler" book titled "'Back' Records Complete Collection" that includes various anime scenes, original character design arts, costume designs, other various production materials, and interviews with the film's main staff, such as director/co-screenplay writer Tomohiko Ito, anime character designer/chief animation director Shingo Adachi, original novel writer/co-screenplay writer Reki Kawahara, novel illustrator/original character

designer abec, anime producer Nobuhiro Osawa, producer Shinichiro Kashiwada, and novel editor/anime
