Virtual Idol Hatsune Miku Becomes the Chiba City Crest for 1 Day Only

Collaboration between city and Crypton Future Media was sparked when Netizens noticed a resemblance

For one day only on August 31, 2017, the official crest of Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan will transform into something unexpected: a symbolic representation of Crypton Future Media's beloved Vocaloid virtual idol, Hatsune Miku.

 

 

The collaboration came about when fans observed that the star and cresent moon design of the Chiba City crest resembles the silhouette of Miku and her famous twin-tail hairstyle. From 9AM - 9PM JST on August 31, all instances of crest on Chiba City's official homepage will change to the Miku design, and the City Tourism Promotion Division will also use Chiba City Miku as their Twitter Avatar.

 

 

Additionally, a limited print run of 3000 Chiba City Miku can badges will be distributed at the "Magical Mirai 2017" event, which takes place from September 01 - 03, 2017, at the Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba City.
