Doraemon sports ears for upcoming special set in Egypt.
Considering Doraemon is an alien and a cat, one would think ancient Egypt would be the perfect place for him. But this year's birthday special marks the first time the long-running children's character has ever visited the home of the pharaohs.
Born on September 3, 2112, Doraemon celebrates his birthday each year with a TV special. This year's will air on September 1. Titled Pyramid Puzzle!? The Great Egypt Adventure, the special will see Doraemon, Nobita, and their friends transported back in time to ancient Egypt.
The special will also include three guest stars!
Mutsumi Tamura (Kobayashi, Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid) will be appearing as Nemuseru II, a young Egyptian pharaoh.
Jurota Kosugi (Arlong, One Piece) appears as Warueheb, a traitor with plans to steal the throne from Nemuseru.
And Ayane Sakura (Cocoa, Is the Order a Rabbit?) features as Nemuresu's consort Titi.
Doraemon Birthday Special: Pyramid Puzzle!? The Great Egypt Adventure airs September 1 at 7 pm.
