Theatrical anime film based on super-powered action TV anime coming in Spring of 2018
Rock bands GRANRODEO (pictured above) and Luck Life (pictured below) are returning to serve as theme song performers for Bungo Stray Dogs DEAD APPLE, an upcoming theatrical anime film based on the action TV anime that pits super-powered detectives and super-powered criminals against one another in a war for control of the city of Yokohama.
GRANRODEO will perform the opening theme, while Luck Life will perform the ending theme. Previously, GRANRODEO performed the opening theme, "TRASH CANDY", for the 1st season of Bungo Stray Dogs, while Luck Life performed the ending themes ("Namae o Yobu yo" and "Kaze ga Fuku Machi") for both season 1 and season 2.
The exact details of the plot of DEAD APPLE have not been fully revealed, but so far the film seems to be a compilation of the first two seasons of the Bungo Stray Dogs TV anime with an added emphasis on the rivalries between Atsushi Nakajima and Ryunosuke Akutagawa and between Osamu Dazai and Chuya Nakahara. Crunchyroll describes the plot of the Bungo Stray Dogs TV series as follows:
Kicked out of his orphanage and on the verge of starving to death, Nakajima Atsushi meets some strange men. One of them, Dazai Osamu, is a suicidal man attempting to drown himself in broad daylight. The other, bespectacled Kunikida Doppo, nervously stands by flipping through a notepad. Both are members of the "Armed Detective Agency" said to solve incidents that even the military and police won't touch. Atsushi ends up accompanying them on a mission to eliminate a man-eating tiger that's been terrorizing the population...
Bungo Stray Dogs DEAD APPLE is directed by Takuya Igarashi and features animation by BONES. The film is scheduled to hit Japanese theaters in the Spring season of 2018.
