Prequel novel "Kaiju Apocalypse" is set to be released on October 25
The official website for Godzilla: Kaiju Wakusei/Monster Planet, Polygon Pictures' upcoming three-part anime feature film project inspired by Toho's long-running Godzilla franchise, today confirmed that 19-year-old rookie singer XAI performs its theme song "WHITE OUT." She is the winner of the "Artist" category in the 8th Toho Cinderella Audition held in November 2016.
"WHITE OUT" is written by Sachiko Aoyama (NEGOTO vocalist/keyboardist) and composed/arranged/produced by Masayuki Nanako (BOOM BOOM SATELLITES bassist). It will be included in the four-song "anime edition" CD and 10-song "artist edition" CD, both to be released on November 15, two days before the release of the film's first part in Japan.
Traditionally, most of the winners of the Toho Cinderella Audition appeared in Toho's Godzilla films:
1st winner (1984): Yasuko Sawaguchi (The Return of Godzilla, Godzilla vs. Biollante)
2nd winner (1987): Emi Odaka (Godzilla vs. Biollante to Godzilla vs. Destoroyah)
3rd winner (1991): Keiko Imamura (Godzilla vs Mothra to Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla)
5th winner (2000): Masami Nagasawa (Godzilla : Tokyo S.O.S., Godzilla: Final Wars)
Meanwhile, a prequel novel "Godzilla Kaiju Mokushiroku (Apocalypse)" written by Renji Ohki (Bokurano
~alternative~, Expelled from Paradise 2.0 Rakuen Zankyo Godspeed You) is seto to be released on
October 25. The anime's original story and script writer Gen Urobuchi supervised it.
