Original project set in an ecologically devastated near future heads to Japanese TV in Spring of 2018
Shoji Kawamori's latest project has been revealed to be an original TV anime entitled Juushinki Pandora ("Heavy Sacred Device Pandora"), a mecha anime set in the near future on an ecologically devastated Earth. The key visual below includes the tagline: "For the sake of living, we've formed a contract."
The staff for Juushinki Pandora includes:
- Original work, series director: Shoji Kawamori
- Director: Hidekazu Sato
- Series composition: Toshizo Nemoto
- Original character design: Risa Ebata
- Animation production: Satelight
The cast for Juushinki Pandora includes:
Tomoaki Maeno as Leon Lau, a brilliant scientist who has been banished to the fringes of society due to his role in the Xianglong Crisis. He lives together with Chloe in the wilderness outside Neo Xianglong. Leon has a sloppy personality, but he becomes quite excited when talking about food or his research.
Nao Tōyama as Chloe Lau, Leon's surrogate "sister". Although they are related not by blood but by a "family contract", Chloe thinks of Leon as her genuine elder brother. Chloe is a bright and energetic girl who is not afraid of anything or anyone, and she does her best to take care of Leon and help him with his research.
The story of Juushinki Pandora is as follows:
In the year 2031, an experimental energy device known as the "Quantum Reactor" is created to help alleviate the problems stemming from Earth's dwindling fossil fuel reserves. Unfortunately, the "Quantum Reactor" goes out of control, exploding and bathing the world with unknown energies in an incident known as the "Xianglong Crisis". As a result of the catastrophic environmental changes that follow, humanity is pushed to the brink of extinction, and strange new organisms - part organic, part mechanical - known as the "B.R.A.I." emerge.
Seven years later, Leon Lau - one of the scientists at the center of the "Xianglong Crisis", is living in the wilderness near Neo Xianglong, one of the last remaining human cities. Leon has entered into a "family contract" with Chloe Lau, and together the two of them research their own methods of combatting the B.R.A.I. threat.
