"Refreshing youth story" starring the official mascot character of Mihara City hits theaters in Japan on February 11, 2018
The official movie poster has been released for Yassadaruman, an upcoming live-action film about the struggles faced by a young man who works as the suit-actor portraying Yassadaruman, the official mascot character of Mihara City in Hiroshima Prefecture.
In Yassadaruman, Hisano Sato plays Hajime Kisaragi, the suit-actor inside the Yassadaruman costume. Hajime is down in the dumps after Yassadaruman comes in dead last at the annual Yuru-Kyara Grand Prix, causing Hajime to be scolded by his superiors. He spends his days in-costume attending public functions and his nights drinking his troubles away at a local bar, but Hajime's luck begins to change when he meets Yuuna Isodani (played by Ayana Taketatsu), a huge fan of the Yassadaruman character, and he falls in love at first sight.
Described as a "refreshing youth story", the Yassadaruman film is directed by Kenichi Ohmori. Yassadaruman also stars Maasa Sudo, Misa Shimizu, and Ichirôta Miyakawa. The film hits theaters in Japan on February 11, 2018.
