The Ryuo's Work is Never Done! (known in the original Japanese as Ryuoh no Oshigoto!), a TV anime based on the shogi-themed light novel series written by Shirow Shiratori and illustrated by Shirabi, is adding some Anisong power to its voice cast with a pair of new cast announcements: Ichiro Mizuki and Mitsuko Horie.
Beginning with Episode 02 of The Ryuo's Work is Never Done!, Mizuki will provide the voice for Takashi Hinatsuru, while Mitsuko Horie will provide the voice for Akina Hinatsuru. Takashi and Akina are the father and mother of the main character Ai Hinatsuru, a 3rd grade elementary school girl who is also a shogi prodigy.
The original Ryuoh no Oshigoto! light novels are published by GA Bunko, an imprint of SoftBank's SB Creative subdivision. BookWalker Global is producing an English language version of the series under the title The Ryuo’s Work is Never Done!, and they describe the series as follows:
The Ryuo’s Work is Never Done! is about a teenage boy named Yaichi Kuzuryuu who happens to be the strongest shogi player in history, holding the top title of “Ryuo” (Dragon King). One fateful day, shogi-loving elementary student, Ai Hinatsuru, appears before him claiming that he promised to be her master. But was such a promise really ever made? Thus began their master and disciple relationship! Who can match their level of intensity and passion for shogi?
The Ryuo's Work is Never Done! TV anime is directed by Shinsuke Yanagi and features animation by Project No. 9. The series will begin broadcasting on Tokyo MX, Sun TV, KBS Kyoto, BS Fuji, Mie TV, and AT-X in January of 2018.
