Hatsune Miku Breaks Into Voice Acting on "Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion"

Inside every Vocaloid virtual idol is a hot-blooded robot pilot screaming to get out.

The invasion has begun, and voice actors will face some stiff competition in the future, because virtual idol Hatsune Miku is assuming her first official voice acting role as a character in the upcoming transforming bullet train children's anime, Shinkansen Henkei Robot Shinkalion.

Hatsune Miku will play a character named Miku Hatsune (written with the Japanese characters for "pronunciation" rather than "first" and "sound"), an 11 year old robot pilot who commands the Shinkalion H5 Hayabusa.

In Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion, the S.U.E.I. ("Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute") is a top-secret organization hidden in a secret base beneath the Kyoto Railway Museum. With the aid of transforming robots piloted by gifted children, the S.U.E.I. strives to protect peace in Japan by doing battle with giant monsters and the nefarious Black Bullet Train.

Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion is directed by Takahiro Ikezoe and features animation by OLM and Ajia-do Animation Works. The series will broadcast on the TBS (Tokyo Broadcasting System) network on Saturdays at 7:00AM JST beginning on January 06, 2018.
