"Gegege no Kitaro" Teases New Project for TV Anime 50th Anniversary

Website retrospective released for adaptations of Shigeru Mizuki's enduring manga about a young yokai boy

January 03, 2018 marks the 50th anniversary of the first TV anime of Gegege no Kitaro, a classic comic by manga master Shigeru Mizuki about a young yokai boy who lives in a graveyard with his spooky friends, and the series is celebrating with a special website that looks back at 50 years of animated adaptations and that teases a "new project" on the way.

The website traces the history of the Gegege no Kitaro TV anime from its initial broadcast in 1968 - 1969 to its fifth and most recent TV series, which ran from 2007 - 2009. Further details on the "new project" have not yet been revealed. We'll just have to wait and see if a 6th TV series is in works...
