The official home page for Encouragement of Climb, a TV anime based on the moe mountain climbing manga by Shiro, has confirmed that the third season of the series will begin broadcasting in Japan in the Summer season of 2018.
In addition, a new key visual (above) has been released, and a special commemorative event will be held to celebrate the new season on June 23, 2018. The time, venue, and guest list for the event are still TBA. The chance to pre-purchase tickets to the event is included as a bonus with the Encouragement of Climb: Omoide no Present OAV, which will be released in Japan on January 26, 2018.
The original Encouragement of Climb manga (known as Yama no Susume in Japanese) is published by Earth Star Entertainment in their Comic Earth Star digital manga magazine. The previous two seasons of the TV anime are directed by Yusuke Yamamoto and feature animation by 8-bit. Crunchyroll currently streams the first season of Encouragement of Climb, and describes the story as follows:
Aoi prefers indoor hobbies and is afraid of heights, but her childhood friend Hinata loves to show off her passion for mountain climbing. As young children they once watched the sunrise from the top of a mountain, and now they've decided to take up mountain climbing in hopes of seeing that sunrise again. They have cooking battles with mountaineering gear, climb small hills in their neighborhood, and meet new mountaineering friends as they learn the ropes of the hobby. When will they finally see that sunrise again?
