"Video Girl Ai" Creator Lends His Pen to TV Drama Adaptation

Masakazu Katsura's art makes a cameo in manga reimagining

The most recent episode of the Video Girl Ai TV drama went back to its roots -- enlisting the help of manga creator Masakazu Katsura for a show-within-a-show.

Episode 3 of Denei Shoujo ~VIDEO GIRL AI 2018~ sees Shou, our modern protagonist, modeling a potential anime character after Ai as part of an ongoing storyline. The contents of Shou's sketchbook, including the Ai-inspired character, are sketched by Katsura himself.

Further settings and iterations of the character will be produced by Signal. MD, the studio behind Recovery of an MMO Junkie and Ancien and the Magic Tablet.

Ai's anime doppelganger made her debut in this week's episode, but previews and these new character settings make it look like we'll be seeing more of her as the series goes on.
