Adaptation based on crime novels written by Chiaki Kisaki and illustrated by Hako Ichiiro is currently airing in Japan
A quartet of killers and criminals have joined the ranks of the underworld society in Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens, a currently airing TV anime adaptation based on the series of crime novels written by Chiaki Kisaki and illustrated by Hako Ichiiro about the seedy underbelly of the city of Fukuoka, where 3% of the population are secretly hitmen, assassins, and other professional lawbreakers.
The new cast members for Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens include:
Kenjiro Tsuda as Chegar, an assassin for the cyber-terrorism organization .mmm (pronounced "M 3").
Natsuki Hanae as Siva, a "cracker" with access to some of the best technology in the world.
Atsushi Imaruoka as Irasawa, a former boxer turned cutthroat killer.
And Nobunaga Shimazaki as Feilang, an assassin from the mainland China who shares a fateful connection with Lin Xianming.
The original Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens novels are published in Japan by ASCII Media Works under their Media Works Bunko imprint. The Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens TV anime is directed by Kenji Yasuda and features animation by Satelight. The series is currently broadcasting in Japan on AT-X, Tokyo MX, BS11, and TVQ Kyushu broadcasting, and it is also available via streaming in North America via Crunchyroll and Funimation, who describe the series as follows:
"There is a person you desperately want to kill. Now, how do you kill that person?" At a glance, Fukuoka seems like a peaceful town, but crime runs rampant behind the scenes. It's now a battleground for professional killers, with urban legends suggesting that there's even one who specializes in killing professional killers. Assassins, detectives, revenge seekers, informants, torture specialists... When stories are told of these and other professionals of the underground, a "killer of professional killers" appears...
