"Banana Fish" Anime Reveals Cast, Visual, Promo, and July Air Date

Series will be a part of Fuji TV's noitaminA block

As promised, more information has been revealed for MAPPA's anime adaptation of Akimi Yoshida's Banana Fish manga. The series is officially bound for Fuji TV's noitaminA block this July, with streaming in Japan and other regions set for Amazon Prime. That's not all, though, because we also have details on the main cast members, as well as a visual and a new promo.

First up, the cast includes:

Ash Lynx - Yuma Uchida (Eigo in STARMYU, Kazuomi in ReLIFE)

Eiji Okumura - Kenji Nojima (Nobuchika in Psycho-Pass, Yuto in High School DxD)

Max Lobo - Hiroaki Hirata (Sanji in One Piece, Klein in Sword Art Online)

Dino Golzine - Unsho Ishizuka (Mr. Satan in Dragon Ball Super, Jet in Cowboy Bebop)

As previously reported, Hiroko Utsumi, best known for her directorial works for Kyoto Animation's Free! series, is attached to direct, alongside series composition writer Kouji Seko (Mob Psycho 100Inuyashiki) and character designer Akemi Hayashi (Fruits BasketDokyusei).

Other staff members include Ayumi Yamada and Shinpei Kamada as chief animation directors, Yo Yamada as sound director, Toshiharu Mizutani as art director, Yusuke Tannawa as director of photography, Hiroshi Okuda as editor, and Chikako Kamata as color designer.

Director Utsumi commented on the original Banana Fish, saying she was drawn to Ash and Eiji's relationship, which is at the center of the story. The MAPPA version of Banana Fish will take that story and move it to modern times.
