Mechagodzilla Launches in New "Godzilla" Anime Film Key Visual

2nd entry in 3DCG theatrical anime movie series stomps theaters in Japan on May 18, 2018

Go, go, Godzilla! A new key visual (below) and the official theme song performer have been revealed for Godzilla -  Decisive Battle: Mobile Breeder City, the 2nd installment in the 3DCG theatrical anime film trilogy that pits a handful of human survivors and their alien allies against an entire planet dominated by Godzilla.

The new key visual (above) depicts Mechagodzilla, a super-weapon that may be humanity's last hope to retake the planet. The official theme song for the film, entitled "THE SKY FALLS", is performed by XAI, who also performed the theme song for Godzilla - Planet of the Monsters.

Godzilla - Decisive Battle: Mobile Breeder City picks up where Godzilla - Planet of the Monsters leaves off. After suffering a crushing defeat at the claws of Godzilla Earth - the seemingly immortal, 300 meter tall, 100,000 ton incarnation of Godzilla who now rules the planet - Haruo Sakaki is rescued by Miana, a native girl who belongs to the "Futua" tribe, the descendants of humanity that were left behind on Earth during the initial evacuation.

Meanwhile, Galu Gu, the leader of the Bilusaludo forces, realizes that the arrowheads of the Futua are made of "nanometal", the same material that was used to build Mechagodzilla, a super weapon that failed to curb Godzilla's rampage and that was presumed destroyed in a battle at the foot of Mt. Fuji in the 21st Century.

The Godzilla anime film series is directed by Kōbun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita and features animation by Polygon Pictures and Toho Animation. The first film in the trilogy, Gozilla - Planet of the Monsters, is currently available via streaming on Netflix. The second film, Godzilla -  Decisive Battle: Mobile Breeder City, hits theaters in Japan on May 18, 2018.
