Actors Hikaru Makishima and Takuma Zaiki join the theatrical adaptation based on Eto Mori's novel series
Two more cast members have been revealed for the DIVE!! stage play, an upcoming theatrical production based on the series of novels by Eto Mori about a group of middle school students who pursue the sport of competitive diving. The new cast members include:
Hikaru Mashima as Yōichi Fujitani.
And Takuma Zaiki as Shibuki Okitsu.
Takeru Naya was previously announced as the main character, Tomoki Sakai.
The DIVE!! novel series is published in Japan by Kadokawa Shoten. The series has previously been adapted into a live-action film in 2008 and an anime TV series in 2017. The DIVE!! TV anime is directed by Kaoru Suzuki and features animation by Zero-G, and it is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video, who describe the story of DIVE!! as follows:
Tomoki Sakai, is 14 years old, and he's been dedicated to diving since he was a child. It all began when he met Yoichi Fujitani, a genius diver three years his senior. Tomoki and his friends attend the Mizuki Diving Club, but their new coach Kayoko Asaki says the club will close if it doesn't produce an Olympian. And so begins their fight as they lay everything on the line for a single moment!
DIVE!! THE STAGE!! is written and directed by Naohiro Ise. The play will run from September 20 - 30, 2018, at the THEATRE1010 venue in Tokyo and from October 06 - 07, 2018 at the Morinomiya Piloti Hall venue in Osaka. Tickets range in price from 7800 yen ($73.40 US) for standard seating to 9800 yen ($92.22 US) for premium seating with bonus goodies.
