Ayano Takeda's "Sound! Euphonium" Novel Series Has 1.4 Million Copies in Print

Latest anime adaptation film "Liz and the Blue Bird" opens in Japan today

Japanese publisher Takarajimasha announced on April 20 that Ayano Takeda's Sound! Euphonium novel series has more than 1.4 million copies in print in Japan, as of the release of its latest volume Sound! Euphonium: True Story of Kitauji High School's Wind Ensemble Club (April 5, 2018 release).

 

The first volume of the series, Sound! Euphonium: Welcome to the Kitauji High School's Wind Ensemble Club was released by Takarajimasha in December 2013, and so far ten volumes have been available in Japan. Yen Press has licensed the English edition of the series in North America, and its first volume was released in June 2017.

Kyoto Anmtion has been producing the novel's anime adaptations. The TV anime series were aired for two 

seasons in 2015 and 2016, and two compilation films based on each were also released in 2016 and 2017.

 

A newly-produced sequel/spin-off anime film Liz and the Blue Bird is released today in Japan. It is based

on the two-part novel Sound! Euphonium: Kitauji High School's Turbulent Second Movement published in

August and October 2017.
