Suds Fly in "Fist of the North Star" Body Wash Live-Action CM

Actor Hideaki Itō stars as Kenshiro in silly TV spot that demonstrates the importance of hygiene in the kung fu Apocalypse

Just because you're a mohawk-sporting goon in the kung fu post-apocalypse doesn't mean you should ignore proper hygiene, at least that's the lesson in a zany TV commercial for a collaboration campaign between Rohto's line of De Ou men's body wash products and Fist of the North Star.

The TV spot clocks in at just over a minute and stars actor Hideaki Itō as Kenshiro, marking the first official live-action appearance of the character as portrayed by a Japanese actor. (Kenshiro was previously portrayed by English actor Gary Daniels in the 1995 Fist of the North Star film directed by Tony Randel.)

The title of the TV spot, "Omae wa mou niowanai" ("You're already scent-free"), is a parody of Kenshiro's famous catch-phrase, "Omae wa mou shinderu" ("You're already dead"). The ad also features Shigeru Chiba's patented screaming narration and a version of Fist of the North Star opening theme "Ai o Torimodose!!" with slightly altered lyrics to bring the subject of the song closer to showering.
