Penguins Perform "Evangelion" Cosplay at Matsue Vogel Park

Plucky penguins parade twice daily with hand-crafted costumes designed by their handlers

Even penguins want to express their inner otaku through cosplay, or at least that's the premise of a unique promotional campaign between Neon Genesis Evangelion and Matsue Vogel Park in Shimane Prefecture.

As part of the collaboration, the park's penguins will parade in hand-crafted costumes created by their handlers during their twice-daily "penguin stroll" event. According to Atsushi Yamada, the handler in charge of the event, the costumes were designed so as not to burden the penguins or impair their movement. The penguins take their walking tours at 10:30 AM and 2:00PM JST.

A tie-in campaign with Shimane Art Museum's "Evangelion Exhibition", the Eva-themed penguin stroll event at Matsue Vogel Park runs until July 09, 2018. Admission to the park costs 1540 yen ($14.10 US) for adults.
