Adaptation based on sports manga by Kosuke Hamada begins broadcasting in Japan in July of 2018
Two additional cast members have been announced for Hanebado!, an upcoming TV anime based on the badminton sports manga by Kosuke Hamada that follows a group of young women and their intense competitions for their high school badminton team.
The new cast members include (from left to right):
- Mikako Komatsu as Miyako Taroumaru, the advisor for the Kitakamachi High School badminton team. Although she is the advisor for the team, she's a complete amateur when it comes to badminton, and she is self-conscious about her surname, and so she doesn't like to be addressed as "Taroumaru".
- Sayaka Ohara as Uchika Hanesaki, the mother of main character Ayano Hanesaki, and a 10 time champion in women's badminton singles competition. Uchika teaches badminton classes and also mentors pro players from all over the world, and she has taught her daughter the sport from a young age, but all of that pressure makes Ayano dislike badminton at the beginning of the series.
The original Hanebado! manga is serialized in Kodansha's good! Afternoon seinen manga magazine. The Hanebado! TV anime is directed by Shinpei Ezaki and features animation by Liden Films. The story follows the adventures of the women's badminton club at Kitakamachi High School.
Hanebado! will broadcast in Japan on Tokyo MX, Kansai TV, BS11, and AT-X beginning in July of 2018.
