Idol series is the latest to go the way of the rhythm game
The anime/smartphone game tie is realer than ever these days, and more and more games are introducing apps to keep their fans engaged. The latest to make the jump is Wake Up, Girls!, which will be kicking off its new rhythm game app this summer.
Subtitled Angels of the Nova (Shinsei no Tenshi), the game features a new storyline written by series composition/scriptwriter Touko Machida in conjunction with the recent release of the show's "New Chapter." You are (as you might have guessed) the idols' manager, responsible for training the girls up to be the best they can be via gacha pulls and rhythm games.
The game makes use of both Live2D animation (as seen in the BanG Dream! app) and pixel sprites for your various encounters. There will also be a multiplayer mode, allowing you to team up with fellow players to ace your live shows.
Pre-registration is open now on Japanese servers, with a Twitter campaign underway that will net some lucky fans an autograph from the game's voice actors.
Wake Up, Girls! ~Shinsei no Tenshi~ launches later this summer.
