Sato's aunt joins the bittersweet adaptation
Who could make Sato Matsuzaka the way she is? Thanks to an anime veteran, we're about to meet her.
Voice actress Kikuko Inoue has joined the cast of horror manga adaptation Happy Sugar Life as Sato's aunt, the protagonist's masochist caretaker. Anime viewers may remember her as Belldandy in Ah! My Goddess, Kasumi Tendou in Ranma 1/2, Cecile in Code Geass, and many others.
Inoue says the role is nothing like she's ever played before, and hopes she can do the "sad, loving, scary" character justice.
Happy Sugar Life is based on the manga of the same name, about a high school girl named Sato who will do anything to protect her beloved: a little girl named Shio. And protecting that way of life means engaging in everything from kidnapping to blackmail to murder. It premieres in Japan this July.
