Educational Manga Plumbs the Origins of Regional Mascot Kumamon
Publication about Kumamoto Prefecture's official mascot joins the "Shogakukan Edition Study Manga" series

Kumamoto's official regional mascot Kumamon is joining the ranks of such historical luminaries as Osamu Tezuka and Steve Jobs, because Shogakukan has published an educational, biographical manga about Kumamon for their "Shogakukan Edition Study Manga" line.
Written by Kazuto Sanjō, illustrated by Shinri Mori, and overseen by the Kumamoto Prefecture Kumamon Group, the 160 page manga traces the history of Kumamon from its humble origins in 2010 to its recent work aiding the relief efforts for the 2016 Kumamoto earthquakes. The book also includes a special afterward by Kumamoto governor Ikuo Kabashima.
"Shogakukan Edition Study Manga - Kumamon" was published in Japan on July 27, 2018. It retails for 1026 yen ($9.24 US) including tax.
