SSSS.GRIDMAN Protects Akihabara on TV Anime Launch Day

Special promotional event involves tokusatsu super hero "hijacking" monitors and "patrolling" electronics stores

SSSS.GRIDMAN, an animated reboot of the early Nineties tokusatsu superhero TV show by Tsuburaya Productions, will begin broadcasting in Japan on October 06, 2018, and to celebrate the new series the electronics-themed superhero hero will spend a special day protecting the most famous "electric town" in the modern world: Akihabara.

On October 06, 2018, select electronics stores in Akihabara (such as Tsukumo PC Honten, IOSYS Akiba Chuouyoko, and more) will have their PC monitors and television screens "hijacked" by Hyper Agent Gridman. Additionally, select shops will offer SSSS.GRIDMAN novelty character goods, and Gridman himself will be appearing on-location at select locations for photoshoot opportunities. Customers who present their same-day purchase receipts will be able to get their photos taken with Gridman on a first-come, first-serve basis.

In SSSS.GRIDMAN, Yuta Hibiki is a first year high school student living in the city of Tsutsujidai who wakes up one day and discovers that he's suffering from amnesia. Later, Yuta discovers an old computer and encounters "Hyper Agent Gridman" projected on its monitor. Gridman insists on wanting to complete his mission, prompting Yuta to begin searching for the meaning behind those words and how they apply to his missing memories. Soon the peaceful days of Yuta and his classmates are disrupted when giant monsters appear.

SSSS.GRIDMAN is directed by Akira Amemiya (NINJA SLAYER FROM ANIMATION) and features animation production by TRIGGER (Kill la Kill). The series will broadcast in Japan on Tokyo MX, Mainichi Broadcasting System, AT-X, and BS11 beginning on October 06, 2018.
