The series has printed two million copies with 16 tankobon volumes
Aniplex announced today on November 8 that a TV anime adaptation of manga artist duo FLIPFLOPs' supernatural battle manga Darwin's Game is now in the works. The anime's official website and Twitter also open with a teaser visual featuring its protagonist Kaname Sudo and main heroine Shuka Karino. Other details such as voice cast and broadcast schedule are currently unknown.
The manga has been serialized in Akita Shoten's Bessatsu Shonen Champion since its January 2013 issue. Its latest 16th tankobon volume is released today in Japan, and its total print run has reached two million copies. This is the authors' second manga series to have its TV anime adaptation, following Nekogami Yaoyorozu animated by AIC PLUS+ in 2011.
The story begins when ordinary high school student Kaname Sudo receives an invitation mail from a
mysterious app "Darwin's Game." After launching the app, he is involved in battles that players are
forced to fight each other using their supernatural power. Not knowing what is happening, Kaname
tries to survive through the battles against strong players attacking him. Then he learns from female
player Shuka Karino that there is no way to quit the game.
