Lay-duce animates adaptation of Mari Okada and Nao Emoto's manga on awkward adolescent romance
O Maidens in Your Savage Season (known in Japan as Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo), a manga written by Mari Okada and illustrated by Nao Emoto about a group of teenage girls in a high school literature club experiencing the pangs of adolescent romance, is being adapted into a TV anime. The main staff for the series has been revealed, including:
- Original work: O Maidens in Your Savage Season, written by Mari Okada, illustrated by Nao Emoto, and serialized in Kodansha's Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine
- Director: Masahiro Andô, Takurō Tsukada
- Screenplay: Mari Okada
- Character design: Kaori Ishii
- Animation production: Lay-duce
An English language version of the original O Maidens in Your Savage Season manga is currently in-development by Kodansha Comics, who describe the story of the series as follows:
Kazusa was a quiet middle schooler, but she arrived in high school determined to make friends. So (as a huge Harry Potter fan) she decides to join the literature club. When one of the club's icebreakers is "say one thing you want to do before you die," one of the girls blurts out "sex." The prudish club president, the class beauty, and the other nerdy girls' reactions are wildly different. Far from a typical sex comedy, O Maidens in Your Savage Season depicts how these girls challenge and support one another when THAT WORD pushes them onto a variety of clumsy, funny, painful, and emotional paths towards adulthood. Mari Okada's unique talent for pairing lovable and relatable characters and emotional twists is lent new dimension by the detailed and dynamic sequential art of Nao Emoto (Forget Me Not).
The release date for the O Maidens in Your Savage Season TV anime has not yet been revealed.
